Tulsi Manas Mandir is one of the most famous and ancient temples in the holy city of Banaras. The temple has had both historical and cultural significance in Hinduism as the ancient Hindu epic Sri Ramcharitmanas was originally written at this place in the 16th century by the Hindu great poet, saint, reformer and philosopher Sri Goswami Tulsidas. One of the famous Hindu epics, the Ramayana was originally written in the Sanskrit language by the Sanskrit poet Valmiki between 500 and 100 BCE. Being in Sanskrit language, this epic was not accessible and understood by the general public. In the 16th century, the great poet Goswami Tulsidas wrote the Ramayana in the Awadhi dialect of Hindi language and the Awadhi version was called Ramcharitmanas.
