The pharmaceutical industry's most recent attempt to protect the world's forests took the shape of a letter to a special committee of the European Parliament submitted in late April by the Council for Economic Education. The letter said that the pharmaceutical industry cannot create new therapies without the plants and trees that serve as the foundation for many current ones, and it sought funding for developing nations.
As a result, businesses attempting to lessen their carbon impact ship the majority of their products to the EU, a sizable export market.
This appears to have a lot of fine print. However, the lengthy shipping routes that pharmaceutical businesses choose to use mask the issue of how to lower greenhouse gas emissions at the EU level by concentrating on the production and distribution of chemicals.
